Anniversary Special: Shaved Head

in the beginning of summer...

as in may 2009,
we went on a nice date to a sushi restaurant and actually spent a decent amount of money on food.
we then went to your apartment and had a few drinks.
you then decided you wanted to shave your head.
soooo,
we get you all ready and i'm shaving your head and all, then the razor died...

half way through.

cute.

you then drank some more...
fixed the razor,
went to test it out,
totally forgetting the guard wasn't on and of course you chose to test it on the top/front of your head.
which then forced us to completely shave your head.
because you be so smart...

then you got more drunk and threw up all those noodles in the second photo in the bath tub and completely forgot about it, and was shocked to find them in the morning.

i love youuuuuu.

Anniversary Special: Mouse Hunt.

that time, this time last year when owen and i saw a mouse about a hundred times and you never believed me.
and then you saw him,
he ran behind those paper bags and you and i and owen stood in the kitchen.
you hit the bag and nothing happened,
you hit it again,
nothing happened.

then suddenly it came running out, straight for me and ran between my legs faster than lightening and i let out a shrill...

which made you scream like a man should never scream,
and then we cried laughing.

and built this humane trap,
which never worked.

Anniversary Special: Thanksgiving

our first thanksgiving was spent in florida with his parents, but the second was spent by ourselves.
we cooked everything for the first time, and cooked way too much.
we spent the entire day in our pajamas and it was awesome.
we overestimated our timing and everything was done by like 12:30, soooo,
we had nothing to do for the rest of the day.
haaaa.

the turkey for ry and owen.

obligatory thanksgiving phone calls.

hmmmmmmmm,

i'm hungry.

our wedding in a magazine

it's finally here!

the issue is so beautiful and features some amazing real weddings and vendors in the south.

the fall issue should be up on their website soon since we got our copies today in the mail!

Anniversary Special: one year anniversary.

{from our engagement shoot}

on our first anniversary
{october third two thousand and eight}
we rented a cabin up in gatlinburg, tennessee for a few days.
the weather was so crisp and perfect.
it was the perfect little retreat, up on a hill surrounded by trees and some vacant cabins.
there was a fireplace we had on every night and would sit on the deck and drink coffee in the morning cuddling with our sweatshirts.

one night we decided to use the hot tub and of course as soon as we open it, owen was in.
it's obviously not very big but he was swimming laps as fast as he could.
it was one of the most hilarious memories i have of him.
also, one morning we found him like this...

if you've never been here, it's interesting.
it's hands down, the most touristy place i have ever been...
beating out vegas for sure.
and we totally did an old time photo.

it's also where ryan suggested we get a "similar" tattoo.
i had been bugging him for a promise ring {which looking back seems so dumb} but he totally surprised me with his suggestion.
so we did it, on a whim, not telling anyone...
ON OUR WRISTS!

if you haven't seen them in photos,
or in the first photo on this post,
we got seahorses.
they are monogamous and awesome.
we went to the aquarium that night to look at them and they happened to have a special exhibit about them...
fate.
we went to about 6 different shops the next day before we found with a good reputation and trusted to put this permanent thing on us.
the photo above was the one we put on facebook and myyyy did it spark a conversation among our friends...

trouble makers we are ;)

Anniversary special: Owen

guess whaaaaat???

it's mine and ryan's three year anniversary on sunday.
and as ryan knows,
one of my favorite things to do is look through old photos on iphoto and facebook and retell stories to him about a younger us/me.
so,
since i've never done it on here, it offers me the perfect opportunity to do so!
over the next few days i'm going to be posting photos of some of my favorite memories between us over the last three years.
in no particular order but here's the first one...

owen.

how could you deny this little face?
we adopted him april of 2008 and hid him in ryan's on campus apartment for a few weeks before i moved off campus into a dreadful house full of girls.

he was the most adorable puppy i had ever seen and he was sooooo soft!
but he was a nightmare!
we almost took him back to the pound.
his teeth were razor sharp and he would attack everyone, he was so mean.
he wouldn't sleep in his crate but instead on our heads.
and his breath smelled like poop.
{also ps, he is laying on my bed right now and air is literally shooting out of his butt every few minutes and it stiiiiiiiinks!}

he has his quirks now but he's the best dog we have ever had {pre being together}
and we really couldn't ever see us without him.
that will be a very sad day in the meyer home when it's his time to go...

ryan and i had to go through so much with this dog it was ridiculous,
ie: chewing up boots, my glasses...yes, even the glass, destroying every bed ever given to him and a down comforter, chewing up ryan's window sill...ohhh teething dogs. but it really helped us grow as a couple and i don't think we would have gotten married when we did if we never would have gotten him. so thanks o!

buy me!

i'm still trying to find a home for this thing,
the dress, not me ;)

our weekend.

our weekend was pretty eventful,
ryan left this morning until thursday and with all the traveling we have been pretty proactive in spending intentional time together, doing things instead of just sitting on the couch.
so on saturday, as you know, Copper found a new home, i have seen some photos of her and she looks comfortable and happy, but she got a new collar - pink and white polka dots...ugly.
after that happened we went to about 9 different garages sales and found a few gems...only spending like $15.
and then later in the afternoon went to the dollar theater and saw dinner for shmucks, which had it's moments but i thought overall, was slow and predictable.

sunday came, and for the first time the air actually felt crisp.
i skipped church cause i've been battling an "almost cold" and my throat was killing me when i woke up.
got a bunch of laundry done and when ryan got home we went to the flea market...
for the first time ever,
and it was amazingggg...

we got this coke glass bottle case (on the right) for $5.

except it's an RC cola case, whatevs.
oh and that print on the left,
we picked up from a yard sale for $5.
it's an original poster, printed on fabric and was picked up years ago at an antique store.
ryan didn't know what we could use this case for when DA DAHHHH i said spice rack.
since they're like $30 at target.

and it says "nashville, tennessee" which was discovered post purchase, but a major selling point in itself ;)

did you know?

that i am a terrible person?
who only expects the worse from people.
after my post from last night, talking about the missing candy corn, etc. {reference below}.
i woke up this morning and saw a different tiny bowl on my table filled with candy corn,
i asked ryan if he had done it with the rest of our bag and he said "no".
so i looked in the pantry and low and behold saw an opened bag of candy corn on her side.

i don't think she reads my blog but if you are kelsi,
i'm sorry!
i can blame all my years of having terrible, awful girl roommates who were selfish and mean, onm my assuming you just gobbled them up and didn't care,
but you went out of your way to get more and even filled a tiny bowl.
you have been nothing but wonderful and easy to live with. i'm gonna miss ya when you move out in a few days.

p.s. owen is definitely depressed that copper is gone, and i KNOW dogs can die of a broken heart...

bittersweet.

{i promise we're not vain, i just needed a photo for this post}

hope the end of the week has you well and that your weekend so far has been fun/relaxing etc.

this time last week i was down in the dumps since the days leading to it were going down in history as being some of the worst, but luckily this past week was much better.
i've been enjoying the little things like:

~ buying a pumpkin butter scented candle, that makes my house smell AMAZING, but also leaves me thinking i baked something, which makes me want to eat it, but to my horror...it's a candle.

~ i bought two tiny scarecrow things since all other fall/halloween decorations were too expensive. i thought they could look like ryan and i and put them in our yard...uhh i'll post a photo tomorrow.

~ i bought a bag of candy corn, and put it in a little serving bowl on my table to be cute and to satisfy mine or my guests sweet teeth on occasion {except we just got home to see that our roommate ate all of them except two, as if i wouldn't notice} - so now that bowl is refilled and on my dresser, gluttony = candy corn privileges revoked.

~ I filmed a reenactment for the 700 Club on Thursday {last minute}.

~ I also booked a set of ambulance chaser commercials for around the country, soooo...maybe i'll be coming to a city near you?

but on a more bittersweet note, we finally found a home for Copper. a very perfect couple came and met her today and took her home with them. they were pretty excited but it was pretty sad when ryan and i lifted her into their truck and she just looked at us...

yes we probably both teared up a bit.

we're definitely missing her tonight, even the big O.
but it's for the best and it's been nice to spend the time with my family, the three of us just fit together well and Copper did always feel a little on the outside, but i love her and i know we gave her the best life we could in the 3 months she was with us.

gimme gimme, wednesday

as promised,
i'm keeping up with the "things i want/love wednesday" thing...
i'm still throwing out names for this middle day.
anyway, here are my picks for the week.

this journal is absolutely amazing!
{ryan you should pay attention to this...early christmas present maybe??}
since i started writing a lot i keep an old journal in my purse when inspiration strikes,
but this would inspire me all its own.

this living room would be fantastic for the fall and winter months...
actually this entire house would...

gimme.
i keep telling myself i will make them.
and well, they have yet to be made.
granted, these are really pricey {anthropologie, duh.} but they are verrrry pretty all the same.
i have been slowly trading in all my products for natural and organic products,
and not surprising to me i love them better and they work better!
i have been eyeing this night creme for a while.
with commercials and auditions i have been abusing my face with makeup,
not to mention the daily dirt and grime it collects anyway,
oh and that nashville is so polluted.
this would just make my battle against nature so much easier.

not only does it leave your skin SO STINKIN SOFT,
for...going on four days here...
it smells amazing and is very gentle on your face,
not like some exfoliants that feel like you have taken a cheese grater to your cheeks.

do we see a similarity in these photos?

these are the only photos i have of ryan since the honeymoon...
IN MAY.
all taken at different times...
what's the common theme?
{coughwhitetshirtcough}
